hi:)
I'd love to ask this question, asked b4 other places , butneed more input.
ppl are trying to convince me that slow cooker is hte way to cook, but so far i dont agree to that. I dont agree to that yet, since alot of the stuff u guys have over there in hte wonderful countries far away from lil norway, has alot more canned stuff than what i'm used to. So, here i s the challenge:
anyone with recipes that calls for no cans, premade sauces or dry soup-mixes?
enjoy the challenge :)
i'd like anything from chicken, pork and beef.
greetings from voiceofjoy.
you can cook anything in a crock pot that you can in an oven. stick a rost chiciken in there with some crushed garlic and water and other spices of your choice. iditto with the turkey breast or roast. you can also stick onions, potatoes, carrots, or whatever in there and you have a dinner in a dish. Personally i don't like the crockpot but have used it in a pinch. i think everythingkind of tastes like everything else if you know what I'm trying to say.
It's not technically a can, but I ha have heard if you get a nice steak (round roast of beef for instance) a jar of pickled banana peppers (hot peppers) and garlic, cut the garlic and stick the cloves into the meat, put the peppers on top in the pot and coock for around 8 hours, you end up with a really moist and excellent steak, good by itself, with mashed potatoes or with bbq sauce on a southern sandwich.
Hi, i like to make roast and vegies in the crockpot.
I usually season, flower and brown my roast in a skillet with some olive oil before placing it into the crockpot.
Then pore 3 cups of water with a package of brown gravey mix into the crockpot.
Then add the roast and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours until it is fork tender.
Then add baby karrots, new potatoes, diced onions and celery, mushrooms if desired, and bell peppers.Cook until the vegies are tender.
I hope this helps.
Blessings,
Angela
